Meet the Team
Mesha Sims
Founder & Executive DirectorBefore I was a Special Education teacher or a military spouse, I was a child navigating the foster care system. My life has been shaped by constant transitions, new schools, new environments and the overwhelming feeling of being the “new kid” time and time again. I understand what it feels like to have to reintroduce yourself, explain your needs, and fight to be seen and supported.
Today, I advocate for children and families navigating IEPs, special education services, and school transitions, especially during PCS moves. I know how stressful it can be to worry about whether your child’s services will follow them, or if they’ll fall behind academically, emotionally and socially.
That’s why I created Chosen and Cherished.
I believe every child deserves consistency, support, and a team that sees their full potential, no matter how often they move. My mission is to walk alongside families, helping ensure that your child’s IEP, goals, and services transition smoothly without gaps or setbacks. From organizing essential documents to communicating with new schools, I’m here to make sure your child is prepared, supported, and set up for success, including personalized tutoring designed to address learning gaps and build foundational skills for continued academic growth. Military life may require you to move, but your child’s support system shouldn’t have to start over every time.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management and am currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Special Education. My goal is to further strengthen my ability to support families through educational advocacy, structured program development, and case management experience. By supporting individuals and families through coordinating services and resource navigation.
This experience both lived and professional is why I do this work.
We are here to provide Support That Moves With You.
Kimberly Purrier
Director of Educational Advocacy, Family Engagement, and Program DevelopmentMy name is Kimberly Purrier. I am a Special Education Teacher and former Navy spouse, who has learned well how to navigate constant transition. With over six years in special education and a background in mental health, I understand both the emotional and academic needs of students with disabilities. As well as, the complexities of the IEP process from both the educator and parent perspective. Military life moves fast, and I know how challenging it can be for families to maintain consistent support through every move. That’s why I’m passionate about bridging the gap between parents and schools educating teachers on students’ rights, empowering families to advocate effectively, and ensuring every child receives the support they deserve, no matter where they are.
